Mary Foster
I am originally from Alabama and got my degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University where I graduated summa cum laude. I taught elementary school in North Carolina for 7 years before my husband, Edward, our son, Knox, and I moved to Beaufort in 2004. After our daughter, Elizabeth, was born, I got certified to teach Kindermusik and owned a business doing that for a few years before starting to teach Music and Movement classes at 4 different area preschools. I worked as a Christian Educator for 4 years. This position required me to create and lead Christian education opportunities for children from 3 years old - 5th grade. Several years ago I was offered a classroom position and taught 3 year olds and then 4 year olds for the last 4 years. I also used my education background when I served on the original Charter Committee to envision and open Riverview Charter School. Both of our children attended Riverview through 8th grade.
Knox is completing his senior year at Beaufort Academy and Elizabeth is in 10th grade and also attends BA. I read all the time and also enjoy exercising, cooking and spending time with my family. We love traveling and spend as much time as we can at our cottage on a small lake in Ontario. People think we are crazy to drive there but it is worth every minute in the car when we watch the sunset from our dock and listen to the loons call.
Bluebird House Preschool has been a dream of mine for some time and I am so excited to see it come to fruition. Teaching preschool is my passion and it is an honor to be part of so many children’s lives and to help them learn and grow while celebrating the things that make them individuals and allowing them to enjoy the magic of childhood. My training in Kindermusik, STEAM education, and Play Based Learning all shape the environment I have created at Bluebird House Preschool.
